ORDINANCE N0.
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON
COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 24, Section 7-1-2 of
the Illinois Revised Statutes, on September 29, 1975, a written petition
was filed with the Circuit Court of Fulton County, Illinois by a majority
of the owners of record of land and a majority of the electors residing
in the territory hereinafter described for the annexation to the City of
Canton, Illinois of the territory hereinafter described; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to notice and provisions of Chapter 24, Sections
7-1-2, 7-1-3 and 7-1-4, on October 20, 1975, the Circuit Court of Fulton
County, Illinois ordered that the question of annexation of the territory
hereinafter described be submitted to the corporate authorities of the
City of Canton, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, on January 29, 1980, the Community and Industrial Development
Committee of the City Council of the City of Canton held a public hearing
to consider the annexation of the territory hereinafter described; and
WHEREAS, based upon the testimony heard at the public hearing, the
majority of the owners of record of land and the majority of the electors
residing in the territory hereinafter described desire the City of Canton
to annex the territory hereinafter described; and
WHEREAS, all other necessary legal requirements are in full compliance
with the statutes of the State of Illinois, specifically, Chapter 24, Sections
7-1-2 through 7-1-5 of the Illinois Revised Statutes; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Canton that said
territory be annexed to the City of Canton.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the corporate authorities find as facts the recitals herein-
above set forth.

2. That the following described territory be, and the same is hereby
annexed to the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois.
All that part of the Northwest Quarter of Section
27, Township 7 North, Range 4 East of the Fourth
Principal Meridian, Fulton County, Illinois, lying
South of the North boundary line of County Highway
Route No. 21 and West of the existing corporation
line of the City of Canton, Tllinois, said real
estate being platted as Fairview Heights Addition
and Kuzinar Addition.
An accurate map of the annexed territory is attached hereto and made a part
hereof as Exhibit A.
3. That the City Clerk of the City of Canton, Tllinois is hereby
directed to have a certified copy of this Ordinance, together with the
accurate map of the annexed territory, recorded in the office of the.
Recorder of Deeds of Fulton County, Illinois.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approval
by the Mayor thereof.
