AN ORDINANCE REPEALING TITLE 8, CHAPTER 8, SECTION 4 OF THE CANTON
MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING THE USE OF CEMETERY EQUIPMENT AND AMENDING
TITLE 8, CHAPTER 8, SECTION 8 OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING
GENERAL PENALTIES.
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the City of
Canton, Illinois has determined that it is necessary, desirable and
to the best interests of the City of Canton to repeal and delete
Title 8, Chapter 8, Section 4 of the Canton Municipal Code concerning
the Use of Cemetery Equipment and to modify and amend Title 8, Chapter
8, Section 8 of the Canton Municipal Code concerning General Penalties;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has
made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That Title 8, Chapter 8, Section 4 of the Canton Municipal
Code be, and the same is hereby repealed and deleted from the Canton
Municipal Code.
2. That Title 8, Chapter 8, Section 8 of the Canton Municipal
Code be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"8-8-8: General Penalty:
Any person who shall be guilty of a violation of any of the
provisions of this Chapter shall be subject to a fine of
not less than twenty five dollars ($25.00) nor more than five
hundred dollars ($500.00) for each offense; and shall also
be liable in a separate suit for the costs and expenses of
repairing any injury or damage named in Section 8-8-3 hereof."
3. That the remainder of Title 8, Chapter 8, Cemeteries,
General Provisions, of the Canton Municipal Code remain in full
force and effect.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois
and approval by the Mayor thereof.
