AN ORDINANCE REPEALING A PORTION OF TITLE 9, CHAPTER 10, SECTION 2 (A)
OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING PARKING ON THE EAST STDE OF
NORTH SECOND AVENUE IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS BETWEEN EAST CHESTNUT
STREET AND A POINT ONE HUNDRED SIX (106) FEET SOUTH THEREOF AND AMENDING
TITLE 9, CHAPTER 10, SECTION 2 (B) OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING
DIAGONAL PARKING.
WHEREAS, the Streets and Traffic Committee of the City of Canton,
Illinois has determined that it is necessary, desirable and to the best
interests of the City of Canton to repeal and delete a portion of Title
9, Chapter 10, Section 2 (A) of the Canton Municipal Code concerning
parking on the East side of North Second Avenue in the City of Canton,
Illinois between East Chestnut Street and a point one hundred and six
(106) feet South thereof and to modify and amend Title 9, Chapter 10,
Section 2 (B) of the Canton Municipal Code concerning diagonal parking;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has
made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the following portion of Title 9, Chapter 10, Section
2 (A) of the Canton Municipal Code be, and the same is hereby repealed
and deleted from the Canton Municipal Code:
"9-10-2: PARKING
(A) East side of Second Avenue between the south curb line
of Chestnut Street and a point on said Second Avenue
one hundred six feet (106') south thereof at any time
for more than thirty (30) continuous minutes and then
only for the purpose of the conduction of business in
the City Building of said City thereto adjacent."
2. That Title 9, Chapter 10, Section 2 (B) of the Canton Municipal
Code be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"9-10-2: PARKING
(B) Diagonal Parking. All vehicles shall be parked diagonally
with. one front wheel against the curb on the following
designated streets:
South side of East Maple Street from the east sidewalk
line of North Second Avenue east to a point one hundred
ninety eight feet (198').
On the Public Square.
On the north side of West Chestnut Street from Main Street
to Avenue A.
On the south side of East Elm Street from Second Avenue
to Fourth Avenue.
On the east side of North Second Avenue in the City of
Canton between the south curb line of East Chestnut Street
and a point on said North Second Avenue one hundred (.100)
feet south thereof."
3. That the remainder of Title 9, Chapter 10, Section 2, Parking,
of the Canton Municipal Code remain in full force and effect.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon
its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and
approval by the Mayor thereof.
