HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #0863~. - .: ORDINANCE NO.~ AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A BUS STOP ON WEST PINE STREET IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS AND PROHIBITING PARKING ON WEST PINE STREET IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS FOR SAID BUS STOP. WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the City of Canton, Illinois has determined that it is necessary, desirable and to the best interests of the City of Canton to provide for a bus stop on the North side of West Pine Street in the City of Canton from the East curb line of the alley between South Main Street and South Avenue A to a point eighty (80) feet East thereof; and WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the City of Canton, Illinois has determined that it is necessary to prohibit parking for said bus stop on the North side of West Pine Street in the City of Canton from the East curb line of the alley between South Main Street and South Avenue A to a point eighty (80) feet East thereof; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has made similar determinations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the North side of West Pine Street in the City of Canton, Illinois from the East curb line of the alley between South Main Street and South Avenue A to a point eighty (80) feet East thereof be, and the same is hereby designated as a bus stop to be used for the purpose of boarding and embarking from public carriers. 2. That no parking of any motor vehicle, other than a public carrier, shall be permitted on the North side of West Pine Street in the City of Canton, Illinois from the East curb line of the alley between South Main Street and South Avenue A to a point eighty (80) feet East thereof. 3. That the appropriate officials of the City shall post appropriate signs and make appropriate markings designating this area as a bus stop and informing people of this Ordinance. { 4. Any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not less than Five Dollars ($5.00), nor more than Two Hundred Dollars (.$200.00) for each offense. 5. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect 10 days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication according to law.
