HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #0929~' V ORDINANCE N0. 929 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING, DIRECTING AND SETTING THE DATE AND TIME FOR THE SALE AT PUBLIC AUCTION OF CERTAIN PERSONAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE CITY OF CANTON AND NO LONGER NEEDED FOR CITY PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the Streets and Garbage Committee of the Canton City Council has determined that the City of Canton presently owns certain items of personal property no longer needed or used for City purposes; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows: 1. That all Department Heads are hereby instructed to immediately inventory personal property now assigned to their respective departments and identify items of personal property no longer needed or used for City purposes and to immediately report, in writing, to the Mayor the identity, number, and exact description of all such items. 2. All items so reported and approved for sale by the Mayor shall be sold at public auction and to the highest cash bidder. Such auction shall be held at the West Side Treatment Plant on date of June 9, 1982 commencing no earlier than 9:00 o'clock A.M. and continuing until all items are sold or until bidding has terminated. 3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to cause advertisement of such sale to be made as may be desirable or required by law. 4. The Mayor may, in his discretion, hire and employ one or more professional auctioneers to assist in such auction, provided, however, that any such auctioneer so employed be a resident of the City of Canton. 5. That this Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois by at least a 3/4 vote of the Corporate Authorities and approval by the Mayor thereof. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 18th day of May , 1982 upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen Horr, Clarke, Carl, Grant, Sarff, Savill, Kovachevich.
