HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1025 '~-. ,. v i ORDINANCE NO . 1 0 2 5 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT EAST ELM STREET IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS SHALL BE A TWO WAY STREET FROM NORTH FIRST AVENUE TO NORTH FIFTH AVENUE. WHEREAS, the Streets and Garbage Committee of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois has determined that it is necessary, desirable and to the best interest of the City of Canton to make East Elm Street a two way street from North First Avenue to North Fifth Avenue; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, as follows: 1. That East Elm Street from the East curb line of North First Avenue to the West curb line of North Fifth Avenue is hereby designated as a two way street upon which traffic shall move from East to West over the North half of said street and from West to East over the South half of said street. 2. That the Street Superintendent shall post appropriate signs and appropriate markings informing the public of the provision. 3. Any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not less than Twenty-Five ($25.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) for each such violation. 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
