HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1020,~ r ORDINANCE NO . 1 0 2 0 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A STOP SIGN AT THE INTERSECTION OF NORTH FIFTH AVENUE AND CUSTER PLACE IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS. WHEREAS, the Public Safety and Traffic Committee of the Canton City Council has determined that it is necessary to place a stop sign at the intersection of North Fifth Avenue and Custer Place in the City of Canton, Illinois; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows: 1. That a stop sign shall be placed at the Northeast corner of the inter- section of the North Fifth Avenue and Custer Place in the City of Canton, Illinois. And, that every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said intersection from the East shall bring the vehicle under his control to a complete stop before entering said intersection and shall only then proceed when a safe interval occurs in traffic. 2. That the Street Superintendent shall post appropriate signs informing the public of this Ordinance. 3. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not less than Five Dollars ($5.00) not more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each such offense. 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 1Sth day of May 1984, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen Kovachevich, Hammond, Savill, Carl, May, Horr.
