ORDINANCE NO. 1 O1 0
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE USE OF PUBLIC BENEFIT TAX FUNDS IN THE
DEMOLITION OF THE SCRIPPS BUILDING AND RESTORATION OF THE SCRIPPS LOT
AND COMMON WALL.
WHEREAS, City of Canton Tax Increment Area #1 Plan and Project, as
amended, calls for the demolition of certain improvements in said tax
increment area commonly known as the Scripps Building; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Canton has on hand the approximate sum of
$49,000.00 in Public Benefit Tax funds which may be used for the demo-
lition of said improvements and the restoration of said real property
and commn wall; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has determined that it is necessary
and in the best interest of the City of Canton to implement said Plan
and Project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds that the demolition of
the Scripps Building and restoration of said real property and common wall
is 1000 in the public interest.
2. That Public Benefit Tax funds not to exceed $49,000.00 now on hand
are hereby appropriated and assessed to the demolition of the Scripps Build-
ing and restoration of said real property and common wall, all in conformity
with Tax Increment Area #1 Plan and Project, as amended, and, further, in
conformity with specifications to be drawn by or under the supervision and
control of the City Engineer.
3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately
upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County,
Illinois, and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSID by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois
at a regular meeting this 3 r~ day of An ril 1984, upon
a roll call vote as follows:
AyID; Aldermen Kovachevich, Hammond, Savill, Sarff, Workman,
Carl, May, Horr.
NAYS: None.
