ORDINANCE NO. 1~ ~
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR ON STREE'T' PARKING ON WEST CHESTNUT STREET
IN THE CITY OF CAN'T'ON, FULTON COUN'T'Y, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that it is
necessary and in the best interest of the City of Canton to provide for
on street parallel parking on a portion of West Chestnut Street in the
City of Canton; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similiar determiriation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINID BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as folfows:
1. That there shall be on street parking on the North side of West
Chestnut Street between the West curb line of North Main Street and the
East curb line of North Avenue "A" in the City of Canton. Such parking
shall be parallel to the North curb line of West Chestnut Street with
motor vehicles to park facing in a westerly direction.
2. That there shall be on street parking on the South side of West
Chestnut Street between the West curb line of North Main Street and the
East curb line of North Avenue "A" in the City of Canton. Such parking
shall be parallel to the South curb line of West Chestnut Street with
motor vehicles to park facing in a easterly direction.
3. That the City Engineer shall identify, deliniate, and cause to
be marked loading/unloading spaces and no parking spaces/zones as the
public safety and convenience may, in his judgement, require.
4. That the Street Superintendent shall cause appropriate street
markings to be made and appropriate parking signs to be placed.
5. Parking on said street shall be limited to two consecutive hours.
6. Any person convicted of violating any provision of this Ordinance
shall be subject to the penalty provided in Section 4, Chapter 11, Title 9
of the Canton Municipal Code.
7. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten days
after its adoption by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County,
Illinois, approval by the P4ayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form
as provided by law.

Illinois at a regular meeting this 3rd day of A p r i 1
1984, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Horr, May, Carl, Workman, Sarff, Savill,
Hammond, Kovachevich.
NAYS: None.
