AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NtA~4BER 333, BEING "THE CONINIUI~TITY TELEVISION
FRANCHISE."
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that it is
necessary and in the best interest of the City of Canton to amend Ordinance
Number 333 as hereinafter set forth; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton. City Council has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON,
Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. 'T'hat Section 12 of Ordinance Number 333 passed and approved by the
Canton City Council on or about D4arch 16, 1971 is amended by deleting the first
full sentence of said Section 12 which sentence to be deleted reads as follows:
"The company agrees to maintain in the City of Canton a local office for the
benefit of the subscribers of the City of Canton and shall maintain reasonable
hours, at such office, for the conduct of its business". Said section is
amended by adding the following language: "The ccxnpany agrees to maintain and
disseminate to its customers in the City of Canton a toll free number to be
used for its Canton area subscribers for trouble calls, work orders, change of
service, billing inquiries, and .other related matters. The company shall con-
tinue to have a qualified technician. in its employment cvho resides in the City
of Canton who will be available for answering trouble calls, doing system main-
tenance, and .providing subscriber assistance. The~co~r+pany shall maintain within
the City of Canton a depository where citizens may, during normal business hours,
pay their bills."
2. Section 14 of Ordinance Number 333 passed and approved by the Canton
City Council on or about March 16, 1971 is hereby amended by deleting from said
Section 14 the percentage of gross receipts schedule therein set forth (being
comprised of six catagories of gross receipt rates running from a low of three
present gross receipts to and including a high of 4.25 percent of gross receipts),
and replacing the same with a flat rate of "five percent of gross receipts" as
therein set forth, such five percent rate to be effective with the May through
October 1985 period, payable in approximately the month of November 1985. Such
five percent figure shall be calculated on the aggregate of the gross receipts
from the service of distribution of television impulses, television energy and
FM radio within the then existing corporate limits of the City of Canton for
domestic or residential consumption, and from the gross receipts from the sales
or rentals of equipment or machinery installed in or upon the residental receiver
unit for the purpose of supplementing or augmenting the reception of signals, or,
for the purpose of expanding channel capability therein.
3. That Section 1 of Ordinance Number 333 passed and approved by the Canton
City Council on or about March 16, 1971 is hereby amended by extending the term
of said franchise an additional period of ten years to date of March 16, 2006.

4. That in all other respects Ordinance Number 333 passed and approved by
the Canton City Council on or about March 16, 1971, as amended, is hereby re-
affirmed and reapproved.
5. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon
its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois,
and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois
at a regular meeting this 18th day of June , 1985, upon
a roll call vote as follows:
