AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING AND REZONING CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF

WHEREAS a petition was-filed with the City Clerk for the
annexation and rezoning of the real property described in the exhibit
attached hereto, and said real property is not within the corporate
limits of any municipality, but is contiguous to the City of Canton,
Illinois, there being no electors residing in the described real
property, said real property being a part of the Canton Community Fire
Protection District, but not being a part of any public library
district,
WHEREAS proper notice of the filing of the petition for
annexation and rezoning was given to the Trustees of the Canton
Community Fire Protection District and an affidavit that service of
notice has been made and filed with the Fulton County Recorder of
Deeds,
WHEREAS a public hearing on said petition was conducted by the
Planning & Zoning Commission of the City of Canton on May 13, 1984
pursuant to proper. notice having been published in the Canton Daily
Ledger,
WHEREAS on May 13, 1985 the Planning & Zoning Commission recom-
mended to the City Council that the real property described in the
exhibit attached hereto be annexed to the City of Canton and that it
be zoned R-2, Single Family Residential, pursuant to the provisions of
Section 7-1-8 of Chapter 24 of the Illinois Revised Statutes,
WHEREAS said real property has been used for many years as a one
family residence and its highest and best use is its present use,

WHEREAS it is in the best interests of the City of Canton,
Illinois that said real property be annexed to the City of Canton and
that it be zoned R-2, Single Family Residential.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS:
1. That the City Council finds as facts the assertions set forth
above.
2. That the described real property be and is hereby annexed to
the City of Canton, Illinois.
3. That said real property shall be zoned R-2, Single Family
Residential.
4. That the Zoning Administrator is directed to make the
appropriate changes to the .zoning maps of the City of Canton to show
this annexation and rezoning.
5. That the City Clerk is directed to record with the Recorder
Deeds of Fulton County and to file with the County Clerk of Fulton
County a certified copy of this ordinance together with an accurate
map of the .annexed territory.
6. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon
its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton and approval by
its Mayor.
