HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance # 1874ORDINANCE NO. 1874 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A STOP SIGN ON SEVENTH AVENUE AT THE INTERSECTION OF SEVENTH AVENUE AND GRANT PLACE IN THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS WHEREAS, the Public Safety and Traffic Committee has determined that it is necessary and in the best interest of the citizens of Canton, Illinois to place a stop sign on Seventh Avenue at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Grant Place in the City of Canton, Illinois; and WHEREAS, the City Council has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows: That a stop sign shall be placed at the northwest corner of the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Grant Place and that every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said intersection from the North on Seventh Avenue shall bring the vehicle under his or her control to a complete stop before entering said intersection and shall only then proceed when a safe interval occurs in traffic. 2. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction or plea, be subject to a fine of not less than Seventy-five ($75.00) nor more than Five Hundred ($500.00) dollars for each such offense. 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 18th day of July, 2006 upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES• Aldermen Berardi, Hartford, West, Sarff, Carl, Schenck, Reed, NAYS: None.
