HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1110ORDINANCE N0. ~ ~ ~ O AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE PARKING OF TRAILERS, MOTOR HOMES, AND ANY NON-MOTORIZED VEHICLE ON CITY STREETS, ALLEYS, AND WAYS WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the Canton City Council has determined that it is necessary and in the best interest of the City of Canton to prohibit the parking of trailers, motor homes, and non-motorized vehicles on City streets, alleys, and other public ways; and, WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows: "9-5-16: PARKING OF TRAILERS, MOTOR HOMES, AND NON-MOTORIZED VEHICLES ON STREETS: (A) Terms: As used in this section the following terms shall have the following definitions: (1) Motor Home: Any motorized vehicle which is designed or constructed to physically incorporate therein one or more of the following: a. Sleeping accomodations for-one or more persons; b. Cooking facilities; c. Sanitary facilities. d. And, which is greater than six (6) feet, eight (8) inches in width, outside bumper to outside bumper. (2) Non-Motorized Vehicle: Any vehicle, as defined in this Title, which is not powered or propelled by a motor or other energy source incorporated into the design or construction of the vehicle. (B) Parking Prohibited: It shall be unlawful for any person to park, or, permit to be parked, any trailer, motor home, or non-motorized vehicle which is owned, operated, controlled by, or registered to such person, on any street, alley, or other public way within the corporate limits of the City of Canton. (C) Penalty: Any person violating any provision of this Section 16 shall be fined not less than $25.00 nor more than $500.00 for each such offense." 2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois; approval by the Mayor thereof; and, publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
