AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OF SOUTH AVENUE B BETWEEN THE
SOUTH CURB LINE OF WEST MAPLE STREET AND THE NORTH CURB LINE OF WEST HICKORY
STREET.
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois has determined that it is necessary to prohibit parking on the
East side and the West side of South Avenue B in the City of Canton between the
South Curb Line of West Maple Street and the North Curb Line of West Hickory
Street; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois has
made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON,
Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That no parking of any motor vehicle shall be permitted on either the
East or the West sides of South Avenue B between the South curb line of West
Maple Street and the North curb line of West Hickory Street in the City of Canton,
except parking shall be permitted on both the East and the West sides of South
Avenue B from a point 50 feet South of the South right-of-way line of the Santa Fe
Main Line as it presently intersects South Avenue B and the North right-of-way line
of West Oak Street, and, then, shall only be permitted between the hours of 6:00
o'clock P.M. and_6:00 o'clock A.M., local time.
2. That the Street Superintendent shall post appropriate signs and
appropriate markings informing the public of this provision.
3. Any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be subject
to a fine of not less than Five Dollars ($5.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars
($500.00) for each such violation.
4. That, to the extent inconsistent herewith, all prior ordinances are hereby
repealed.
5. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after
its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois,
approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by
law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at
a regular meeting this 21st day of January , 1986, upon a roll call
vote as follows:
