ORDINANCE NO. 1146
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REMOVAL OF TWO PARKING SPACES
ON THE NORTH SIDE OF WEST ELM STREET BETWEEN N. MAIN STREET
AND NORTH AVENUE A.
WHEREAS, the Public Works, Water, and Sewer Committee has
determined that it is necessary and in the best interest of the
City of Canton to officially remove two parking spaces from the
North side of East Elm Street for a planter/green belt in front of
the Canton Daily Ledger at address of 53 West Elm Street; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar
determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing
recitals to be fact.
2. That two parking spaces on the North side of West Elm
Street in the City of Canton from the Southeast Corner of Lot 21 in
Nathan Jones' First Addition to the City of Canton to the Southwest
corner of said Lot 21,a distance of approximately 60 feet, be, and
the same hereby are, ordered removed for the placement of a
planter/green belt in front of the Canton Daily Ledger.
3. That this ordinance may be rescinded in whole or in part
at any time by the Canton City Council and, uponb such recission,
any improvements placed upon City property by the Canton Daily
Ledger, or, by any other person, shall be immediately removed by
the Canton Daily Ledger, or, by such other person at their sole
expense.
4. That this Ordinance is not intended to and shall never be
construed to create in any person any legal or equitable claim or
interest in or to the City property in question, or, to the use or
enjoyment thereof.
5. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 2nd day of June ,
1987, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Kovachevich, Zilly, Steck, Sarff, Meade,
May, Chapman.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Alderman Bohler.
