ORDINANCE N0. 1147
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING AND REZONING CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE
CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS a petition was filed with the City Clerk for the
annexation and rezoning of the real property described below,
and said real property is not within the corporate limits of
any municipality, but is contiguous to the City of Canton,
Illinois, there being nine electors residing in the described
real property, said real property being a part of the Copperas
Creek Fire Protection District, but not being a part of any
public district,
Lots 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37 and 41 in Willis
V. Young's Subdivision, Canton, Fulton County, Illinois.
WHEREAS proper notice of the filing of the petition for
annexation and rezoning was given to the Trustees of the Copperas
Creek Fire Protection District and an affidavit that service
of notice has been made and filed with the Fulton County Recorder
of Deeds,
WHEREAS a public hearing on said petition was conducted
by the Planning & Zoning Commission of the City of Canton on
March 9, 1987 pursuant to proper notice having been published
in the Canton Daily Ledger,
WHEREAS on May 11, 1987 the Planning & Zoning Commission
recommended to the City Council that the real property described
in the exhibit attached hereto be annexed to the City of Canton
and that it be zoned R-2, Single Family Residential, pursuant
to the provisions of Section 7-1-8 of Chapter 24 of the Illinois
Revised Statutes,
WHEREAS t]ie residences situated on the described real
property have been used for many years as one family residences
and that the same is the highest and best use of same,
WHEREAS it is in the best interests of the City of Canton,
Illinois that said real property be annexed to the City of Canton
and that it be zoned R-2, Single Family Residential.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS:
1. That the City Council finds as facts the assertions
set forth above.
2. That the described real property be and is hereby annexed
to the City of Canton, Illinois.
3. That said real property shall be zoned R-2, Single
Family Residential.
4. That the Zoning Administrator is directed to make the
appropriate changes to the zoning maps of the City of Canton
to show this annexation and rezoning.
5. That the City Clerk is directed to record with the
Recorder of Deeds of Fulton County and to file with the County
Clerk of Fulton County a certified copy of this ordinance together
with an accurate map of the annexed territory.
6. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton and
approval by its Mayor.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 2nd da of

June ,1987, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Chapman, May, Meade, Sarff, Steck, Zilly,
Kovachevich.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Alderman Bohler.
