ORDINANCE NO 4207
AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A SPECIAL USE PERMIT TO ALLOW FOR A
PORTION OF 212 EAST CHESTNUT, CANTON, ILLINOIS TO BE USED AS
RESIDENTAL SPACE. THE PROPERY IS CURRENTLY ZONED B-2
(PENDING A ZONING CHANGE TO B-3).
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County,
Illinois, that the territory herein described is located within the corporate limits of
the City of Canton; and,
WHEREAS, a petition was filed by Andrewe & Stephanie Johnson, owner of the
property to the Joint Planning and Zoning Commission of said City requesting a
special use permit; and,
WHEREAS, no objectors appeared at said hearing and said commission did
thereupon make favorable findings of fact and did recommend to the Canton City
Council that said special use permit to allow for a portion of the property to be
used as residential space at property located at 212 East Chestnut, Canton, Illinois.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois hereby
finds the foregoing recitals to be fact.
2. That special use permit to allow a residence at the property currently zoned B-2,
(pending zoning change to B-3) located at 212 East Chestnut, Canton, Illinois,
affecting real property being legally described as follows:
Lots 2 and 3, Barnes and Jones Addition to the City of Canton, County of
Fulton, State of Illinois

3. That the City Council of the City of Canton, County of Fulton, Illinois, hereby
finds the facts of the aforegoing recitals to be fact.
4. That a special use permit as described herein shall be, and the same is hereby
issued to Andrewe & Stephanie Johnson, owner of property, pursuant to Section
10-10-3 of the Ordinances of the City of Canton for "Single-family residential
utilization by owner, of the second floor of the business building".
5. That the record of the City of Canton, appropriated documents, maps and
related regulations be and the same hereby are, amended to reflect the foregoing
special use permit granted herein.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at a regular meeting
this 1St day of December, 2020 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Alderman Justin Nelson,Angela Lingenfelter,Jeff Fritz, Craig West, John
Lovell, Quin Mayhew, Andra Chamberlin
