ORDINANCE NO. 1135
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF CANTON,
FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, Chapter 24, Section 7-1-13 of the Illinois Revised
Statutes (Ch. 24, §7-1-13, I11. Rev. Stat. 1985) provides, in part,
that whenever any unincorporated territory containing 60 acres or
less, is wholly bounded by one or more municipalities, that
territory may be annexed by any municipality by which it is bounded
in whole or in part, by the passage of an ordinance to that affect
after notice by publication is given as provided by law; and
WHEREAS, the unincorporated territory hereinafter described is
less than 60 acres in size and is wholly bounded by the City of
Canton, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, legal notice by publication regarding the intention
of the City of Canton to annex said territory has been published in
the Canton Daily Ledger; and
WHEREAS, all other necessary legal requirements in compliance
with Chapter 24, Section 7-1-13 of the Illinois Revised Statutes
have been met; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Canton
that said territory be annexed thereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the following described territory be, and the same is
hereby annexed to the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois:
LEGAL DESCRIPTION
A part of the Southwest Quarter (SW~) of Section 28
and a part of the Southeast Quarter (SE}) of Section
29, Township 7 North, Range 4 East of the Fourth
Principal Meridian, Fulton County, Illinois being
more particularly described as follows:
Beginning 700 feet Northerly of the Southwest corner
of Section 28, said point being on the West line of
Section 28, Township 7 North, Range 4 East of the 4th
Principal Meridian; thence Easterly 162 feet to a
point; thence Northerly 1430 feet to a point; thence
Northwesterly 188.4 feet to a point; thence Northerly
258.2 feet to a point on the South right-of-way line
of Illinois State Route 9; thence following said
right-of-way Westerly 67 feet to a point; thence
Southerly 20 feet to a point; thence Westerly 25 feet
to a point; thence Northerly 20 feet to a point;
thence Westerly 12 feet to a point; thence
Northwesterly 32.7 feet to a point; thence Westerly
378.14 feet to a point; thence leaving the South
right-of-way line of Illinois State Route 9 Southerly
1470.03 feet to a point; thence Easterly 185.26 feet
to a point on the West line of said Section 28;
thence Southerly 435.30 feet along the west line of
Section 28 to the point of beginning, said tract
containing 14.938 acres, more or less.

An accurate map of the annexed territory is attached hereto and
made a part hereof as Exhibit A.
2. That the City Clerk of the City of Canton, Illinois is
hereby directed to have a certified copy of this Ordinance,
together with the accurate map of the annexed territory, recorded
in the office of the Recorder of Deeds of Fulton County, Illinois,
immediately upon the passage and approval of this Ordinance.
3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by tje City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 3rd day of
March , 1987 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Zilly, Steck, Sarff, lJorkman, Bohler, May,
Chapman.
NAYS: None..
ABSENT: Alderman Kovachevich.
