ORDINANCE N0. 1131
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT NORTH AVENUE A IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS SHALL
BE A TWO WAY STREET FROM WEST LOCUST STREET TO WEST VINE STREET.
WHEREAS, the Public Safety & Traffic Committee of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois has determined that it is necessary, desirable and to the best
interest of the City of Canton to make North Avenue A a two way street from West
Locust Street to West Vine Street, and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois has
made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON,
ILLINOIS, as follows:
1. That North Avenue A from the North curb line of West Locust Street to
the South curb line of West Vine Street is hereby designated as a two way street
upon which traffic shall move from South to North over the East half of said
street and from North to South over the West half of said street.
2. That the Street Superintendent shall post appropriate signs and
appropriate markings informing the public of the provision.
3. Any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be subject
to a fine of not less than Twenty-Five ($25.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars
($500.00) for each such violation.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after
its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois,
approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by
law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at
a regular meeting this 3 r ~ day of Fe h r u a r~ 1987 , upon
a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Chapman, May, Bohler, Sarff, Steck, Zilly.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Aldermen Workman, Kovachevich.
