A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND ESTABLISHING AN AD HOC "HISTORICAL
PRESERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION".
WlIEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Cc~anittee has determined that it is
necessary and in the best interest of the City of Canton to create an ad
hoc "Historical Preservation and Development Commission"; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON,
Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby authorizes and establishes an
ad hoc advisory conunission to be known as the "City of Canton Historical
Preservation and Development Commission".
2. That the Mayor shall appoint such persons to said Commission as he
deems appropriate.
3. That appointments to said ComYLiSSlOn shall be for such term as the
Mayor may establish; and, that all such appointments shall be at the pleasure
of the appointing authority.
4. That such Commission shall investigate and, from time to time, make
written recommendations to the City Council pertaining to historical preserva-
tion in the City and, also, pertaining to the development of historical preser-
vation in the City.
5. That said Commission shall be responsible for its own funding and
its debts shall never constitute an obligation of the City of Canton, or, of
any City official.
6. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately
upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County,
Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.

vote as follows:
