A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND WELCOMING THE PLACEMENT OF A FEDERAL
CORRECTIONAL FACILITY IN FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois has been made aware of the Fulton County
Correctional Center Steering Committee's desire to locate a
federal prison in Fulton County, Illinois; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois has debated and considered the placement of
such a federal correctional facility in Fulton County, Illinois.
NOW, THEREFORE, UPON .CONSIDERATION, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the placement of a federal correctional facility
in Fulton County, Illinois would be in the best interest of
the City of Canton, Fulton County, and the Federal Bureau of
Prisons.
2. That the City of Canton approves and welcomes the
placement of such a federal correctional facility in Fulton
County, Illinois upon terms and conditions hereinafter to be
agreed to by Fulton County, Illinois and the Federal Bureau
of Prisons.
3. That the City Clerk of the City of Canton is hereby
directed and instructed to send three (3) certified copies of
this Resolution to the Fulton County Correctional Center Steering
Committee who will composite the information ana torwaru vu
to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton,
Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois and APPROVED by the Mayor thereof this 16th
day of September , 1986.
