A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND WELCOMING THE PLACEMENT OF A STATE
CORRECTIONAL FACILITY IN OR NEAR THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON
COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS,- the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois has been made aware of the possibility of
the Illinois Department of Corrections locating a state
correctional facility in Fulton County, Illinois; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City- of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois has debated and considered the placement
of such a state correctional facility in or near the City
of Canton.
NOW, THEREFORE, UPON CONSIDERATION, BE IT RESOLVED BY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the placement of a state correctional facility
in or near the City of Canton would be in the best interest
of both the City of Canton and of the Illinois Department
of Corrections.
2. That the City of Canton approves and welcomes the
placement of such a state correctional facility in or near
the City of Canton upon terms and conditions hereinafter to
be agreed to by the City of Canton and the Illinois Deparment
of Corrections.
3. That the City Clerk of the City of Canton is hereby
directed and instructed to send three (3) certified copies
of this Resolution to the Illinois Department of Corrections.
4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton,
Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois and APPROVED by the Mayor thereof this ~ 5th
