A RESOLUTION CONDITIONALLY OFFERING TO PROVIDE EARLY RE-
TIREMENT TO ASSISTANT CANTON FIRE CHIEF HAROLD E. GARRISON
WHEREAS, it has been made to appear to the Canton City Council
that Assistant Canton Fire Chief Harold E. Garrison whishes to
retire from the Canton Fire Department; and,
WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best interest of both the
City of Canton and Assistant Fire Chief Harold E. Garrison that he
be able to retire as requested.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the City of Canton hereby offers early retirement to
Assistant Canton Fire Chief Harold E. Garrison.
2. That the foregoing offer is conditioned upon the following:
A. The offer is conditioned upon the City's receipt of
Assistant Chief Garrison's giving and the City's receiving of his
irrevocable notice of retirement on or before May 19 ,
1987, and, further, upon Assistant Chief Garrison's actual
retirement from the Canton Fire Department pursuant to such notice.
3. That, further, conditioned upon Assistant Chief Garrison's
actual retirement, as aforesaid, Assistant Chief Garrison shall
receive and be paid a 3$ increase over Fy 1987-1988 base pay for
the 30 day period immediately preceeding the effective date of such
retirement, said 3$ increase to be computed and paid on a per diem
basis computed on a 365 day year.
4. This Resolution is intended by the City of Canton to be an
unilateral offer made by the City to Assistant Chief Garrison. In
order to become effective, this offer must be accepted by Assistant
Chief Garrison, in writing, by execution at the space provided
below, on or before 5:00 o'clock P.M., local time, on date of
August 18, 1987.
5. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 21 day of
July , 1987, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Kovachevich, Zilly, Sarff, Meade, Bohler, May,
Chapman.
NAYS: None,
ABSENT: Alderman Steck.

The foregoing offer is hereby accepted upon the terms and
conditions above set forth.
