HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution #1199 «~ RESOLUTION NO. 1199 A RESOLUTION CONDITIONALLY OFFERING TO PROVIDE CONTINUED SPOUSAL INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR BETTY A. GROVE, WIFE OF CANTON POLICE LT. JAMES R. GROVE UPON SAID OFFICER'S RETIREMENT WHEREAS, it has been made to appear to the Canton City Council that Canton Police Lt. James R. Grove wishes to retire from the Canton Police Department; and, WHEREAS, continued spousal insurance coverage for his wife, Betty A. Grove, appears to be an impediment to such retirement; and, WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best interest of both the City of Canton and Police Lt. Grove that he be able to retire as anticipated. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows: 1. That the City of Canton hereby offers to provide City insurance coverage for Betty A. Grove, wife of Canton Police Lt. James R. Grove, for the period from the date Canton Police Lt. James R. Grove reaches his age of 65 years to the date the said Betty A. Grove reaches her age of 65 years. 2. That the foregoing offer is conditioned upon the following: A. The offer is conditioned upon the City's receipt of Lt. Grove's giving and the City's receiving of Lt. Grove's irrevocable notice of retirement on or before May 15, 1987, and, further, upon Lt. Grove's actual retirement from the Canton Police Department pursuant to such notice. B. The continued spousal insurance coverage to be provided by the City will be at the City's sole expense and the amount of insurance, limits of coverage, and all other aspects of the insurance package to be provided to Betty A. Grove will be at the amount, limits, and upon the conditions of coverage provided by the City to spouses as of date of April 30, 1987. r C. The spousal coverage to be provided by the City shall terminate upon: (1) The remarriage of Betty A. Grove, in the event if the death or divorce of Lt. Grove, subsequent to date of April 30, 1987; (2) Betty A. Grove reaching her age of 65 years. 3. This Resolution is intended by the City of Canton to be an unilateral offer made by the City to Police Lt. Grove. In order to become effective, this offer must be accepted by Lt. Grove, in writing, by execution at the space provided below, on or before 5:00 o'clock P.M., local time, on date of May 15, 1987. 4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, and approval by the Mayor thereof. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 5th day of May , 1987, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen Chapman, May, Bohler, Meade, Sarff, Steck, Zilly, Kovachevich.
