HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution #2024c ` RESOLUTION NO. ~n~4 A RESOLUTION FINDING A NUISANCE AND A PUBLIC HEALTH HAZARD: "DAHM HALL" - SOUTHEAST CORNER OF S. 1St AVE. AND E. ELM ST. WHEREAS, the Canton City Council by its agents has previously examined real property and improvements commonly known as "Dahm Hall", the former J. Anthony building, which is generally located at the Southeast corner of the intersection of South First Avenue and East Elm Street in the City of Canton; and, WHEREAS, the owners of said real property and improvements have failed or refused to correct certain deficiencies in such real property and improvements thereto despite repeated requests to do so by the City of Canton; and, WHEREAS, the City of Canton has legal power and authority to identify and cause remedial action to be taken by the owners of or other parties in interest to real property and improvements thereto which constitutes a "nuisance" or a public health hazard. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows: 1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing recitals to be fact. 2. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the real property and all improvements thereto commonly known as "Dahm Hall", the former J. Anthony building, which is generally located at the Southeast corner of the intersection of South First Avenue and East Elm Street in the City of Canton to be a nuisance and/or a public health hazard for failure to comply with various. City codes and ordinances. 3. That the City Attorney is hereby authorized and directed to institute such legal action as he may deem necessary to abate such nuisance and health hazard. 4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Counccil of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, and approval by the Mayor thereof. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 16th day of March , 1988, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen Chapman, May, Bohler, r~eade, Sarff, Steck. NAYS: None. ABSENT: Aldermen Zilly, Kovach 'ch. Mayor ATTEST: Ci y Clerk.
