A RESOLIITION CLARIFYING LICENSE HOIIRS FOR CHRIST?1AS EVE !~1)TD NEW
YEAR'S EVE, DECEt4BER, 1989
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the 1alayor and
City Council that flew Year's Eve, December 31, 1989, falls on a
Sunday evening; and,
TrrTHER.EAS, the City of Canton Liquor Ordinance is ambiguous as
to its effect with respect to a Christmas Eve and Mew Year's Eve
falling on a Sunday; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Canton wishes to clarify the matter with
respect to Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, December, 1989.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY CODNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing
recitals to be fact.
2. In conformity with the City of Canton Liquor Ordinance,
holders of all valid City of Canton liquor licenses, of whatever
classification, may remain open from their lawful opening hours on
December 21,., 1989 until 1:00 o'clocl~ a.m. on December 25, 1989, and
on December 31, 1989 until 3:00 o'clock a.m. on January 1, 1990.
3. That the holders of valid ~Tonday thru Saturday liquor
licenses t~rishing to be open on nte~a Year's Eve, Sunday, December 31 ,
1989, may obtain a special, one-time only, Sunday license by paying
a pro-rata fee as follows: not-for-profit clubs and ors~anizations
shall pay the sum of $2.?_5z all other license holders shall pay the
sum of $9.50.
4. That the City Clerk, City Treasurer, and Mayor are :Hereby
authorized and directed to tape such steps as may be reasonably
necessary to effectuate the intent and purpose of this Resolution.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 21st day of November,
1989, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Kovachevich, Zilly, Steck, Sarff, Meade, May,
Chapman.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Alderman Bohler.
