HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance # 1858 ,. n ORDINANCE NO. 1855 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 559 OF AUGUST 7, 1976 CONCERNING MAXIMUM PARKING DURATION IN THE 100 FOOT SEGMENT ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF EAST CHESTNUT STREET IMMEDIATELY EAST OF NORTH SECOND AVENUE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Ordinance No. 559 passed by the City Council of Canton, Illinois on August 7, 1976 provides fora 30 minute time limit for continuous motor vehicle parking in the first 100 feet on the south side of East Chestnut Street from the East curb line of Second Avenue and then only for the purpose of conducting business at the former city building at 210 East Chestnut Street and the same time limit for diagonal parking in the first 100 feet south of East Chestnut Street on the east side of Second Avenue. Section 2. That Bruketta Accounting Inc. has purchased the former city building and has requested that the maximum time limit for continuous motor vehicle parking be increased to 2 hours for these segments of East Chestnut Street and North Second Avenue. Section 3. That said ordinance No. 559 be and is hereby amended by substituting the words " 2 continuous hours" for the words " 30 continuous minutes" wherever the same shall appear in said ordinance and that the words "and then only for the purpose of the conduction of business in the City Building of said City thereto adjacent" be deleted. Section 4. That the appropriate officials of this City shall post appropriate signs and make appropriate markings informing people of this Ordinance. Section 5. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall be subject to a fine of not less than $5.00 and not more than $200.00. Section 6. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication according to law. w PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this ~lst day of February, 2006, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Alclennen Heed, Meade, Carl, West, Sarff, Berardi, Hartford.
