HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance # 1857 ORDINANCE NO. 1857 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR POSTING OF VISUAL NOTICE OF HEARING FOR PROPERTIES FOR WHICH ZONING CHANGES ARE BEING SOUGHT WHEREAS, Petitions for zoning changes aze not widely known or understood by citizens; and, WHEREAS, newspaper notice is the only notice currently required by either state statute or local ordnance; and, WHEREAS, it would appeaz to be in the best interest of the health, welfare and safety of the residents of Canton to be informed in advance of proposed zoning action; and, WHEREAS, posted visual notice of a proposed zoning change on property to be affected by the proposed change appeazs to be advisable; and, WHEREAS, all petitions, documents and other necessary legal requirements aze in full compliance with the statutes of the State of Illinois and the ordinances of the City of Canton, Illinois, and proper notice of the filing of the Petition for Re-Zoning was given as provided by law; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, as follows: 1. That the City Council hereby finds that the foregoing recitals are factual. 2. That -upon the filing of a petition for zoning change or relief .under the Ordinances of the City of Canton, the city building officer will cause to be posted on the property visible to those passing by, a Notice stating that a change. is being. sought, the time and place of the hearing on the petition and that the petition may be viewed at the office of the City Clerk. 3. Said Notice shall be at least 18 X 24 inches and shall be posted not less than ten (10) days prior to the hearing on the front line of the property nearest to the sidewalk or terrace as the case may be so that it faces the street. 4. That the City Attorney shall prepaze the .amendments necessary to the Canton City Code to reflect the adoption of this Ordinance. S. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, and approval by the Mayor thereof. ~~-''~ - r ~~.
