AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AN ADDITIONAL STOP SIGN AT THE
INTERSECTION OF NORTH FOURTEENTH AVENUE AND EAST LOCUST
STREET IN THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, the Streets and Garbage Committee has determined that it is
necessary and in the best interest of the citizens of Canton, Illinois to place an additional
stop sign at the intersection of North Fourteenth Avenue and East Locust Street in the
City of Canton, Illinois; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
That a stop sign shall be placed at the northeast corner of the intersection of
North Fourteenth and East Locust Street in the City of Canton, Illinois, and,
that every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said intersection from the East
on Fourteenth Avenue shall bring the vehicle under his or her control to a
complete stop before entering said intersection and shall only then proceed
when a safe interval occurs in traffic.
2. That a stop sign previously exists at the southwest corner of the intersection of
North Fourteenth and East Locust Street in the City of Canton, Illinois.
3. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be subject
to a fine of not less than Seventy-five ($75.00) nor more than Five Hundred
Dollars ($500.00) for each such offense.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois,
approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided
by law.

meeting this _~ day of February, 2006, upon a roll call vote as follows:
