HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance # 1853-AOrdinance No. 1853-A AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PROVISIONS FOR DISPOSTI'ION OF ABANDONED AND WRECKED VEHICLES WHEREAS, there has been a proliferation of abandoned and wrecked vehicles within the City of Canton, and, WHEREAS, it would be of assistance to the enforcement of law, specifically enforcement of city codes, to shorten the period of days before a vehicle on non-enclosed property or as otherwise exempted under the code is presumed abandoned, and, WHEREAS, it would appear that the number days allowed for private disposal of such vehicles should be shortened from thirty (30) to ten (10), NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois as follows: 1, That Section 6-7-4 of the Canton City Code shall be amended to decrease the number of days allowed an owner or other possessor of land within the city to allow such a described vehicle, to wit: partially dismantled non-operating, wrecked, junked, discarded or abandoned, from thirty (30) to ten (10) days to remain on any property within the city; and further to prohibit any person to leave such a vehicle on any property within the city for a period of more than ten (10) days, 2. All prior ordinances or resolutions or parts thereof inconsistent with the foregoing are hereby repealed. 3.
