RESOLUTION NO. 3850
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE 2007 CITY OF CANTON COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council ("Council") originally adopted the current
Canton Comprehensive Plan in 1986; and
WHEREAS, many changes have occurred since the last Comprehensive Plan was adopted; and
WHEREAS, the Council considers the Comprehensive Plan a guiding document for growth in
the City; and
WHEREAS, the Council initiated a process to create a new Comprehensive Plan in December
2006; and
WHEREAS, the Council hired Teska and Associates, a planning consultant firm, to develop the
new Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, a new 2007 Comprehensive Plan has been prepared; and
WHEREAS, the public input was actively solicited to contribute toward the creation of the plan;
and
WHEREAS, the 2007 Comprehensive Plan provides goals, strategies and policies to guide
development; and
WHEREAS, the 2007 Comprehensive Plan includes a Future Land Use Plan depicting present
and future uses within the City's future growth boundary; and
WHEREAS, the 2007 Comprehensive Plan will supersede the 1986 Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, the 2007 Comprehensive Plan will guide development in the future growth areas
and will be used by City Council, other City officials, local economic development agencies and officials,
citizens, developers and City staff to evaluate development proposals; and
WHEREAS, on November 13, 2007, the City's Plan and Zoning Committee conducted a public
hearing on said comprehensive plan, and the commission, having considered the evidence presented in
support of and in opposition to the plan, approved of the plan for adoption by the City Council.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the Comprehensive Plan attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A" is hereby
approved by the Canton City Council.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois at a regular meeting this 15th day of
J~~'Y , 2007 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Schebck, Berardi, Sarf~, ti~lest, Nidiffer, Meade, Strar~.berg,
Lewis.
NAYS : None .
ABSENT: None.
