DERENZY WHEREAS, Police Chief Robert W. Molleck and Fire Chief Robert L. DeRenzy are each approaching their retirement ages; and, WHEREAS, each of said chiefs have either indicated to the Administration their tentative intent to retire, or, have formally advised of their impending retirement; and, WHEREAS, each of said chiefs have devoted many years of productive and exemplary service to the public and to the City of Canton; and, WHEREAS, the Mayor and Canton City Council wish to recognize such service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows: 1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing recitals to be fact. 2. That the base pay of each of Police Chief Robert W. Molleck and Fire Chief Robert L. DeRenzy is hereby raised by the sum of $600.00 per 30 days for the last 35 days of their employment with the City of Canton immediately preceeding the effective date of their retirement from service with the City of Canton. 3. That the pay raise contemplated by the foregoing paragraph is exclusive of all other pay raises such as annual percentage raises. /~. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this ~_ day of January, 1991, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen. Steck, Sarff, Meade, Bohler, Chattel. NAYS: None. ABSENT: Aldermen. Kovachevich, Fuller, T.1ay. APPR ~~D ~~ -G ~- % ~ nald E. dwards, Mayor ATTEST: Nan Whites, City Clerk. i M E M 0 To: James Malmgren,C/h~ris Spears & All Aldermen From: Mayor Edwards !~![~~ Date: January 2, 1991 As you are aware Bob Molleck has announced his intention to retire in May. Bob DeRenzy also is approaching the retirement years. Both of these Chiefs have been very community minded and have put in a great deal of effort in their years of service. As an incentive to retirement I would like to recommend to the Council that they pass a Resolution allowing both of these Chiefs a $600.00 salary increase for their final 30 days. In the case of Bob DeRenzy this would not take effect until he was ready for retirement. In the case of Bob Molleck it would take effect starting in April of 1991. The Police and Fire Pension differs from the IMRF in the fact that their retirement is based upon their salary earned with the last pay check. Therefore, the City will be out only $600.00 each and would allow them an increase in their pension. This proposal would be in addition to any annual percentage raise that is given to department heads.
