ORDINANCE NO. 117fl
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1161
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois by Ordinance No. 1161 passed and approved on or
about August 18, 1987 made provisions for certain tax levies for
Fiscal Year 1987 - 1988 that is, the fiscal year beginning May 1,
1987 and ending April 30, 1988; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council subsequent to the passage of
Ordinance No. 1161 has imposed a local utility tax which now makes
it unnecessary to impose some or all of the taxes provided for in
said Ordinance No. 1161; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has determined that it is
necessary and in the best interest of the City of Canton that
Ordinance No. 1161 be amended by deleting therefrom portions of
certain real property taxes as hereinafter set forth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing
recitals to be fact.
2. That Ordinance No. 1161 entitled "AN ORDINANCE FOR THE
LEVY AND ASSESSMENT OF TAXES FOR CORPORATE PURPOSES OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING MAY 1, 1987, AND
ENDING APRIL 30, 1988" be, and the same hereby is, amended by
deleting therefrom the following taxes, or, portions thereof, which
had been estimated to raise levy amounts as hereinafter set forth,
to-wit:
TAX

CITY ADMINISTRATION:
A tax not to exceed .25$ of the full
cash value, as equalized or assessed
by the Department of Revenue of the
State of Illinois, on all taxable
property in the City of Canton,
Illinois: $135,000.00
POLICE PROTECTION FUND:
A tax not to exceed .075 of the
full fair cash value, as equalized
or assessed by the Department of
Revenue of the State of Illinois, on
all taxable property in the City of
Canton, Illinois: $ 40,500.00
FIRE PROTECTION TAX:
A tax not to exceed .15$ of the full
fair cash value, as equalized or
assessed by the Department of
Revenue of the State of Illinois, on
all taxable property within the City
of Canton, Illinois: $ 81,000.00
3. Except as specifically provided in the foregoing
paragraph, Ordinance No. 1161 and all provisions thereof is hereby
reaffirmed and reapproved by the Canton City Council.
4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed to
cause a certified copy of this Ordinance to be filed with the
Fulton County Clerk immediately upon its passage and not later than
December 31, 1987.
5. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 20th day of October ,
1987, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Kovachevich, Zilly, Steck, Sarff, Meade, Bohler,
May, Chapman.
NAYS: None.
