ORDINANCE N0. 1 16 2
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR STOP SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTION OF 6JEST VINE STREET
AND NORTH AVENUE B IN THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, the Public Safety and Traffic Committee of the Canton City
Council has determined that it is necessary and in the best interest of the citizens
of Canton, Illinois to place stop signs at the intersection of West Vine Street and
North Avenue B in the City of Canton, Illinois; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois
has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDIANED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON,
Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That a stop sign shall be placed at the Northeast corner of the inter-
section of West Vine Street and North Avenue B in the City of Canton, Illinois, and,
that every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said intersection from the East
shall bring the vehicle under his control to a complete stop before entering said
intersection and shall only then proceed when a safe interval occurs in traffic.
2. That a stop sign shall be placed at the Southwest corner of the inter-
section of West Vine Street and North Avenue B in the City of Canton, Illinois, and,
that every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said intersection from the West
shall bring the vehicle under his control to a complete stop before entering said
intersection and shall only then proceed when a safe interval occurs in traffic.
3. That the Street Superintendent shall post appropriate signs informing
the public of this Ordinance.
4. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be
subject to a fine of not less than Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) nor more than Five
Hundred Dollars ($500.00) for each such offense.
5. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after
its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois,
approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at
a regular meeting this 18th day of August 1987, upon a ro17 call as follows:
