HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1157A ORDINANCE NO. 1157 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR STOP SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTIONS OF AVENUE A AND RAILROAD, AVENUE B AND RAILROAD AND MAIN STREET AND RAILROAD IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS. WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has determined that it is necessary and in the best interest of the City of Canton to place stop signs at the intersections of Avenue A and Railroad, Avenue B and Railroad and Main Street and Railroad in the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows: 1. That stop signs shall be placed at the Southwest corner and the Northeast corner of the intersection of Avenue A and Railroad in the City of Canton, Illinois. And, that every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said intersection from either the East or from the West shall bring the vehicle under his control to a complete stop before entering said intersection and shall only then proceed when a safe interval occurs in traffic. 2. That a stop sign shall be placed at the Northeast corner of the intersection of Avenue B and Railroad in the City of Canton, Illinois. And, that every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said intersection from the east shall bring the vehicle under his control to a complete stop before entering said intersection and shall only then proceed when a safe interval occurs in traffic. 3. That a stop sign shall be placed at the Southwest corner of the intersection of Main Street and Railroad in the City of Canton, Illinois. And, that every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said intersection from the west shall bring the vehicle under his control to a complete stop before entering said intersection and shall only then proceed when a safe interval occurs in traffic. ~~ 4. That the Street Superintendent shall post appropriate signs informing the public of this Ordinance. 5. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not less than Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each such offense. 6. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 4th day of August 1987, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen Chapman, May, Bohler, Meade, Sarff, Steck, Zilly, Kovachevich. I further certify that on Aianust 4.~h ~ 19~~, the Corporate Authorities of the aforesaid municipality passed and approved the aforesaid Ordinance No.~157 , entitled which provided by its terms that it should be published in pamphlet form. The pamphlet form of the aforesaid Ordinance No. 157 , including the Ordinance and a cover sheet thereof was prepared, and a copy of such Ordinance was posted in the City Building, 210 E. Chestnut Street, Canton, Illinois, commencing on August 4 19~_, and continuing for at least ten (10) days thereafter.
