ORDINANCE NO. 1224
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING ON THE WEST SIDE OF NORTH
AVENUE A BETWEEN THE NORTH CURB LINE OF WEST LOCUST STREET AND
THE SOUTH CURB LINE OF WEST VINE STREET AND ALLOWING PARKING
ON THE EAST SIDE OF NORTH AVENUE A BETWEEN THE NORTH CURB LINE
OF WEST LOCUST STREET AND THE SOUTH CURB LINE OF WEST VINE
STREET IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the City
of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois has determined that it is
necessary to prohibit parking on the West side of North Avenue
A in the City of Canton between the north curb line of West
Locust Street and the south curb line of West Vine Street and
to allow parking on the East side of North Avenue A between
the north curb line of West Locust Street and the south curb
line of West Vine Street; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That no parking of any motor vehicle shall be
permitted on the West side of North Avenue A
between the north curb line of West Locust and
the south curb line of West Vine Street in the
City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois.
2. That parking of a motor vehicle on the East
side of North Avenue A between the north curb
line of West Locust Street and the south curb
line of West Vine Street in the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois is allowed in
accordance with the Canton Municipal Code.
3. That the Street Superintendent shall post
appropriate signs and appropriate markings
informing the public of this provision.

4. Any person who violates this Ordinance shall,
upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not
less than Twenty-Five ($25.00) nor more than
Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) for each such
violation.
5. That, to the extent inconsistent herewith, all
prior ordinances are hereby repealed.
6. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect ten (10) days after its passage by the
City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor
thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as
provided by law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 6th day of
Dumber , 1988 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Chapman, May, Bohler, Meade, Sarff, Steck.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Aldermen Zilly, Kovachevich.
