ORDINANCE NO. 1220
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 8, CHAPTER 10 OF THE CANTON
MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE FOR METERS AND TAPS-WATER SERVICE ONLY
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has determined that it is
necessary and in the best interest of the City of Canton to amend
Title 8, Chapter 10 of the Canton Municipal Code as hereinafter set
forth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the foregoing recitals are hereby found to be fact.
2. That Title 8, Chapter 10 of the Canton Municipal Code is
hereby amended by the inclusion of Section 1.1 to read as follows:
"8-10-1.1 METERS AND TAPS-WATER SERVICE ONLY: Any person located
within the Corporate Limits may, in the manner otherwise
provided in this Chapter, cause water meters to be placed and
tap(s) onto City water lines to be made for the purpose of
obtaining water service for special purposes, e.g., watering of
lawns, filling of swimming pools. Such taps shall be seperately
metered from a tap and line separate from any tap or line with
respect to which the City places a water and sewer charge. Such
tap and line may only be used for purposes which are clearly
incapable of increasing the City sewer flow. Water supplied to
such service shall be charged only the prevailing water rate in the
City. Costs, fees and manner of tappage shall be as otherwise set
forth in this Chapter. Such tap and line shall be considered a
separate account for billing purposes."
3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and
APPROVED by the Mayor thereof this 1st day of November ,
1988, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Chapman, May, Meade, Sarff, Steck, Kovachevich.
NAYS: Alderman Zilly,
ABSENT: Alderman Bohler.
