AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 8, CHAPTER 10, SECTION 1 OF THE
CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE REQUIREMENT OF USING
STANDARD, APPROVED WATER METERS.
WHEREAS, the Public Works, Water and Sewer Committee has
determined that it is necessary and in the best interest of the
City of Canton to amend Title 8, Chapter 10, Section 1 of the
Canton Municipal Code as hereinafter set forth; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar deter-
mination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS, as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing
recitals to be fact.
2. That Title 8, Chapter 10, Section 1 of the Canton
Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"8-10-1: METERS REQUIRED: Any person using water furnished
by the City or making any connection with any service water supply
pipe of the City shall connect their service pipes with a meter of
standard pattern approved by the City of Canton so that all water
consumed shall be passed through such meter and be accurately
measured and the amount definitely ascertained. Such meter shall
be purchased directly from the City of Canton in order to insure
uniformity of meters and fees of maintenance and repair in the
water system. City staff is hereby authorized and directed to
establish and maintain an updated list of meters, to include a
brief description of their standard pattern, capacity, and cost,
exclusive of all other charges, to the water customer; such list
shall at all times be open to and accessable to the public."
3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 16th day of
August , 1988 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Chapman, May, Sarff, Steck, Zilly, Kovachevich
