ORDINANCE NO. l~DU
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 6, CHAPTER 4, SECTION E OF THE
CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING THERETO SUB-SECTION Q RELATING
TO MANDATORY INOCULATION FOR RABIES.
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that
it is necessary to amend Title 6, Chapter 4, Section ~ of the
Canton Municipal Code as hereinafter set forth; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing
recitals to be fact.
2. That Title 6, Chapter 4, Section ~ of the Canton Municipal
Code is hereby amended by adding thereto the following sub-section
Q to read as follows:
"(Q) MANDATORY RABIES INOCULATION:
Every owner or keeper of a dog or cat kept or found within the
corporate limits of the City of Canton shall cause such dog or cat
to be inoculated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian at such
intervals as may be established by regulations promulgated pursuant
to the Illinois Animal Control Act (Ch. 8, Sec. 351, et sequi, I11.
Rev. Stat.). For purposes of this section the term "cat" is
defined as a domesticated carnivorous mammal scientifically known as
Felis domestica, of whatever breed, sex or variety."
3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and
publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 21st day of June ,
1988, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Kovachevich, Steck, Sarff, Meade, gohler, Chapman
NAYS: None

which provided by its terms that it should be published in
pamphlet form.
The pamphlet form of the aforesaid Ordinance No. 1198,
including the Ordinance and a cover sheet thereof was prepared,
and a copy of such Ordinance was posted in the City Building,
210 E. Chestnut Street, Canton, Illinois, commencing on
June 27 , 19 88 , and continuing for at least ten
(10) days thereafter. Copies of such Ordinance were also
available for public inspection upon request in the office
of the City Clerk.
