HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #11851 ~ ~ ~ _ r NO. 1185 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 5, CHAPTER 1 OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND ITS ADMINISTRATION WHEREAS, the Public Safety and Traffic Committee has determined that it is necessary and in the best interest of the City of Canton to amend Title 5, Chapter 1 of the Canton Municipal Code as hereinafter set forth; and, WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows: 1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing recitals to be fact. 2. That Title 5, Chapter 1 of the Canton Municipal Code relating to the City of Canton Fire Department and its administration is hereby amended by adding thereto a new section 5 to read as follows: "5-1-5: TRAINING FIRES: (A) The City of Canton Fire Department shall not conduct or in any manner participate in any training fires until or unless written approval therefor is first received by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) and/or the federal Environmental Protection AGency (EPA), as applicable. This provision shall be interpreted as prohibiting the involvement of individual commissioned members of the Fire Department and of the various Volunteer Firemen in such training exercises except in conformity with this Section." 3. That to the extent inconsistent herewith, all other ordinances, resolutions, or municipal rules and regulations are repealed. ~' , 4. That this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, and approval by the Mayor thereof. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at a regular meeting this 16th day of February 1988, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen Zilly, Sarff, Meade, Kohler, May, Chapman.
