ORDINANCE N0. 1271
AN ORDINANCE REGIILATING THE IISE OF SUPPLEtiQTTAL INCOME TA% FIINDS
WHEREAS, the City of Canton expects to receive up to an
estimated one million dollars in supplemental income tax over
approximately a two year period; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Canton for approximately the last
twelve to fifteen years has been unable to adequately fund
capitol improvement projects due to loss of local tax revenues and
due to the loss of or other use of federal revenue sharing funds;
and,
T~~iEREAS, the Canton City Council finds it necessary and in
the best interest of the City of Canton that the supplemental
income tax funds, as aforesaid, be used primarily to fund capitol
improvement projects. z
NOW, T~'ORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COIINCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoin;
recitals to be fact.
2. That not less than 90~ of the supplemental income tax
funds received, or, to be received by the City of Canton shall be
used for capitol improvement projects, for infrastructure
improvements andjor maintenance of infrastructure, and not
other?-rise. ?~Tithout limitation, a representative list of presently
knotm projects is attached as Exhibit A.
3. .Chat this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the I~•7a~ror thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this --1 Q~ day of
December, 1989, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Kovache~ch, Zil1y, Steck, Sarff, Meade,
Bohler, May.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT; Alderman Chapman.
