HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1241ORDINANCE NO. 1241 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 6, CHAPTER 1, SECTION 1 OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE SIZE OF THE CANTON POLICE DEPARTMENT. WHEREAS, the Negotiations, Grievance has determined that it is necessary and in City of Canton to increase the authorized Department; and, WHEREAS, the Canton City Council NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED B OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as 1. That the Canton City Council recitals to be fact. and Personnel Committee the best interest of the size of the Canton Police has made a similar determination. Y THE CITY COUNCIL OF TH.E CITY follows: hereby finds the foregoing 2. That Title 6, Chapter 1, Section 1 of the Canton Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "6-1-1: DEPARTMENT CREATED; MEMBERS: There is hereby established an executive department of the City government which shall be known as the Police Department, and which shall consist of one Police Chief, three (3) police lieutenants, four (4) police sergeants, twelve patrolmen, one noncommissioned traffic control officer and one secretary-file clerk. Part-time noncommissioned personnel may be used on an "as needed" basis to work as radio operators, but only to the extent that full-time commissioned officers are inadequate to meet such needs." 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
