ORDINANCE NO. 4142
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PROVISION 3-8-10 RELATIVE TO BONDS FOR
THOSE POSSESSING LIQUOR LICENSES IN THE CITY OF CANTON,ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Municipal Code and the City of Canton Code, the City of
Canton has the authority to regulate the sale and distribution of liquor, wine and spirits within its
municipal boundaries; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton has determined that an update and
amendment is required to be made pursuant to Provision 3-8-10 in the amount of bonds needed to
be possessed by liquor license holders.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Canton,
Fulton County, Illinois,that section 3-8-10 shall provide as follows:
SECTION 1:
113-8-10: BONDS REQUIRED:
Before any person shall be issued a license, he shall be required to furnish a good and sufficient
bond with sureties to be approved by the Local Liquor Control Commission in the penal sum of
fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500.00) payable to the City conditioned upon the said licensee
observing all requirements of this chapter and the laws of the State. As an alternative to the bond
and upon approval by the Local Liquor Control Commission, the licensee can also post as surety:
cash,postal money order, draft or cashier's check in the sum of fifteen hundred dollars($1,500.00)
payable to the City conditioned upon the said licensee observing all requirements of this chapter
and the laws of the State."
SECTION 2—That upon passage of this amendment,the City Clerk shall be instructed to
submit to the Codifiers or Municipal Ordinance the said Ordinance amendment for insertion in its
proper place and each copy of this Code within thirty(30) days of its final passage.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular
meeting this 7th day of May 2019 upon a roll call vote as follows:
