ORDINANCE N0. 1290
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR STOP SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTION OF EAST
PINE STREET AND SOiTTH 8TH AVEt1UE IN THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON
COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the Canton
City Council has determined that it is necessary to place stop
signs at the Southwest and Northeast corners of the intersection
of East Pine Street and South 8th Avenue stopping east and west
bound traffic on Pine Street at South 8th Avenue in the City of
Canton, Illinois; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That stop signs shall be placed at the Northeast and
Southwest corners of the intersection of Pine Street and South 8th
Avenue stopping eastbound and westbound traffic on East Pine
Street at South 8th Avenue in the City of Canton, Illinois. And,
that every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said intersection
from the East or West shall bring the vehicle under his control to
a complete stop before entering said intersection and shall only
then proceed when a safe interval occurs in traffic.
2. That the Street Superintendent shall post appropriate
stop signs informing the public of this requirement.
3. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon
conviction, be subject to a fine of not less than Twenty-Five
($25.00) nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each such
offense.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
ten (10) days after its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof,
and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.

AYES: Aldermen Chapman, May, Bohler, Meade, Sarff, Steck,
Fuller, Kovachevich.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: None.
