ORDINANCE NO. 1272
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF
CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS. (ROBERT STEPHENSON)
WHEREAS, a petition was filed with the City Clerk
for the annexation of the real property described below,
and said real property is not within the corporate limits
of any municipality, but is contiguous to the City of Canton,
Illinois, said real property being a part of any public
district,
A part of the Southeast Quarter of Section
Twenty-Eight (28), Township seven (7) North,
Range four (4) East of the fourth principal,
meridian, Canton, Fulton County, Illinois,
described as follows:
Beginning 66 feet North and 30 feet East of
the Southwest corner of the Southeast Quarter
of said Section, running thence North 446 feet
to the point of beginning; from said point of
beginning; thence North 117.0 feet; Thence
North 89 degrees 03 minutes East 151.2 feet;
Thence South 117.0 feet Thence South 89
degrees 03 minutes West 151.2 feet to the
point of beginning, situated in the County
of Fulton, in the State of Illinois.
WHEREAS, proper notice of the filing of the petition
for annexation was given to the Trustees of Copperas Creek
Fire Protection District and notice has been made and filed
with the Fulton County Recorder of Deeds,
WHEREAS, a public hearing on said petition was conducted
by the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Canton
on December 11, 1989 pursuant to proper notice having been
published in the Canton Daily Ledger,
WHEREAS, on December 11, 1989 the Planning & Zoning
Commission recommended to the City Council that the real
property described in the exihibit hereto be annexed to
the City of Canton pursuant to Chapter 24 of the Illinois
Revised Statutes,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of
Canton, Illinois that said real property be annexed to
the City of Canton.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS:
1. That the City Council finds as facts the assertions
set forth above.
2. That the described real property be and is hereby
annexed to the City of Canton, Illinois.
3. That the described real property be and is hereby
rezoned R-2 Residential.
4. That the Zoning Administrator is directed to make
the appropriate changes to the zoning maps of the City
of Canton to show this annexation and zoning.
5. That the City Clerk is directed to record with
the Recorder of Deeds of Fulton County and to file with
the County Clerk of Fulton County a certified copy of this
ordinance together with an accurate map of the annexed
territory.
6. That this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect upon its passage by the City Council of the City
of Canton and approval by its Mayor.
