ORDINANCE N0. 1308
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 1305, BEING "AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR AN ANN[TAL SALARY FOR THE ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council on March 19, 1991, passed
and the Mayor approved the aforesaid Ordinance Pdo. 1305 making
increases to aldermanic salaries effective May 7, 1991; and,
tidHEREAS, subsequent to such action it has come to the
attention of the Canton City Council that Chapter 24, ss3-13-1 and
3-13-2, I11. Rev. Stat., provided that such salaries shall be
"fixed" at least two months prior to the general municipal
election in which voting is held for such offices; and,
ti~THEREAS, the effective date for changes to aldermanic
salaries provided by the aforesaid Ordinance No. 1305 does not
comply with said statutory requirement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY T~iE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing
recitals to be fact.
2. That the aforesaid Ordinance No. 1305 be, and the same
hereby is, amended at its numerical paragraphs 1 and 2 to read as
follows:
"1. Beginning with the reorganized City Council
meeting in May, 1993, the Aldermen of the City of Canton, Illinois
shall receive an annual salary of $2400.00 per year.
2. Beginning t~rith the reorganized City Council
meeting in May, 1993, the Aldermen of the City of Canton, Illinois
shall receive an additional sum of $100.00 for each special
council meeting that said Alderman is in attendance.

3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 16th day of
Apr-il , 1991 upon a roll call vote as follows:
