DISCUSS, CONSIDER AND VOTE ON A CLASS U LIQUOR LICENSE FOR THE VENUE LLC
Mayor McDowell explained that the City received a request for a Class U liquor license for the
Venue LLC to be located at 23 West Pine Street, Canton II. The commision reviewed the
application and the insurance that was submitted. A background check will be completed prior
to issuing the license.
Jed Rhoades explained that his intention is to run a banquet facility. Renovation is currently
taking place at the building (which was formerly Wright's Furniture Store) The catering will be
outsourced. In addition to banquets and weddings, Jed explained that he is also looking into
dinner theater's on various weekends. They are on target to open February 1, 2019 for the
Evening in Red event. The larger room will seat 299 people and the smaller room will seat 100
people.
Graham Hospital acquired the corner lot. This area will be used for outdoor events. The Venue
LLC will be held jointly with Jed Rhoades/wife and the Graham Hospital Foundation.
This will be placed on the next council agenda.
Motion and second were made by Commissioner Manock/Freeman to approve the liquor
license pending receipt of the background check.
The motion carried by voice vote and was unanimous.
