HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution #3237 RESOLUTION NO. 3237 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AN APPLICATION FOR A GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SUCH DOCUMENTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton has determined that it is necessary, desirable and in the best interest of the City of Canton to prepare an application to the United States Government for an Economic Development Administration grant for the replacement of sewer lines in the North end of the community; and, WHEREAS, it is necessary that an application be submitted and agreements entered into with the United States Government to obtain the above mentioned grant. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows: 1. That the City of Canton apply for a grant under the terms and conditions of the United States government and shall enter into and agree to the understandings and assurances contained in said application. 2. That the Mayor and City Clerk on behalf of the City of Canton are authorized to execute and deliver such documents necessary to complete the application. 3. That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to provide such additional information as may be required to accomplish the obtaining of such grant. 4. That the Mayor of the City of Canton shall be granted the authority to sign and submit the above mentioned application and to accept and affirm any grant award resulting therefrom. 5. That the grant the City of Canton will apply for will result in the replacement of storm sewer lines in the North Main Street and North 4th Avenue area of the city, and all repairs associated with improving drainage in the area. 6. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof. E war s, Mayor ATTEST: Nancy Whites City erk r RESOLUTION N0. 3239 A RESOLUTION DIRECTING DEMOLITION OF IMPROVEMENTS TO REAL PROPERTY LOCATED AT R. R. ~2, West Locust, CANTON, ILLINOIS WHEREAS, that by reason of recommendations of the Fulton County Health Department and Phillips and Associates, Inc. it has been made to appear that a house located at R. R. #2, West Locust, Canton, Illinois, and more specifically described as follows: A part of the Southwest Quarter of Section 28, Township 7 North, Range 4 East of the Fourth Principal Meridian, situated in Canton Township, in the County of Fulton and State of Illinois, described as follows, to-wit: Beginning at a point 170.5 feet East of the West line of said Quarter Section, on the South Right-of-Way line of State Bond Issue Route ~9, running thence East 87.5 feet, more or less to a driveway heretofore conveyed to Russell L. Moshier June 1, 1954 by Warranty Deed recorded June 1, 1954 in Book X35, page /+/+6 as Document 3!+/.211 , thence Southeasterly along said driveway to a point 12 feet South of said S. B. I. Route ~9 Right-of-Way, and 265.5 feet, more or less, East of the West line of said Quarter Section, thence South 258.2 feet, more or leas, thence Southwesterly 25 feet to a point 8 feet West of the East line of the last described course, thence West to a point directly South of the Point of Beginning, thence North to the Point of Beginning, ALL SITUATED IN THE CITY OF CANTON, COUNTY OF FULTON AND STATE OF ILLINOIS, is in dangerous and unsafe condition and that said real estate is owned by Lloyd Wilson and Florine E. Wilson. WHEREAS, Ch. 24, SS 11-31-1 et sequi, Illinois Revised Statutes empowers municipalities to demol demolition or repair of dangerous and further empowers municipalities to apply an Order to demolish, obtain a personal demolition and the legal action, and premises and to foreclose on same; and, ish, repair or cause the unsafe buildings; and to the Circuit Court for judgement for costs of obtain alien on said WHEREAS, the 15 day statutory notice has previously been given by City staff pursuant to prior instructions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois that the building(s) located on the premises described above is hereby declared to be dangerous and unsafe within the meaning of the Statutes set forth in Ch. 24, SS 11-31-1 et sequi, Illinois Revised Statutes; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Canton City Attorney be and he is hereby authorized and directed to apply on behalf of the City of Canton to the Circuit Court of the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Fulton County, Illinois, for an Order authorizing the City to demolish said building, to obtain judgment for costs of every kind, and to attach a lien thereto and to foreclose the same. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 21st day of June, 1994, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen, Coay, Nblleck, Phillips, Sarff, May.
