HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution #148 . , RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Ordinance No. /I/9 was passed by the City Council of the City of Canton on the $ 44 day of January, A.D.' 1952, under which Ordinance Canton City Lines, Inc. was given the Franchise to maintain and operate a motor bus system for hire upon the streets of the City of Canton, Illinois, and Whereas, the aforesaid bus company was formed at the request of the City administration and local business associations for the welfare of the residents of the City of Canton, and Whereas, it is now certain and definite that there is an insufficient number of people regularly using the said bus lines to make it possible to operate the bus lines at a profit, and Whereas, through no fault of the management, employees or anyone involved, the said Canton City Lines, Inc. , has been operating at a loss, and Whereas, it is the desire of the bus lines to shut down immediately before sustaining any further greater loss, Now Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED By the City Council of the City of In Canton, sitting/regular session, this 1st day of April, A.D. 1952, that Ordinance No. g granting the right and permission to Canton City Lines, Inc . to maintain and operate a motor bus system for hire upon the streets of the City of Canton, Illinois, be and it is hereby repealed and cancelled. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That no penalty, forfeiture or fine of any type or kind be levied against the said bus company or its owner for any failure to comply with the terms of the Franchise Agreement heretofore referred to. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the City Council will do everything in its power to assist the Canton City Lines, Inc. , in obtaining approval from the Illinois Commerce Commission for the cancellation of the Franchise Agreement.
