HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 10-20-1953 RESOLUTION NO. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That every person applying, and paying the fee required by the Ordinances of the City of Canton, Illinois, for a wheel tax for the yea± 1954 shall receive free of charge a Windshield Adhesive Automobile License approximately twoyinches square, upon which, in black, shall be printed, "Canton, Illinois," and "1954" (in figures) and in figures the number of said license and immediate- ly below said number the word spelling out the number. That the said licenses shall be numbered consecutively. That the numbers shall appear on a white space on said license. That the background for said licenses shall be as follows: For passenger wehicles yellow For trucks not exceeding 1 ton capacity red For trucks not exceeding 3 ton capacity blue For trucks over 3 tons capacity green For motorcycles -orange Section 2. That automobile dealers applying for and paying the fee required by the Ordinances of the City of Canton, Illinois, for the wheel tax for the year 1954 for automobiles used by them as demons- trators shall receive a plate approximately 4 inches long and 2 inches wide upon which in black upon a white background shall be printed, "Canton, Illinois, 1954" and the number of said license in figures. Section 3. That the City Clerk, be, and she is hereby authorized to order 4,000 Windshield Adhesive Automobile Licenses and 25 license plates; and that she take whatever action necessary to have prepared the application and other matters weeded to make the said Ordinance provided for said tax and this Resolution effective. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS: That the sum of $5,000.00 be transferred from the Parking Meter fund of said City, to the Street and Alley Fund of said City for the upkeep, repair and maintainance of the streets and alleys of said City. That the City Clerk and City Treasurer, be and they are hereby authorized to make said transfer. Passes by the 0.1C..-4- CityCouncil and approved by the Mayor this day of A. D. 1953.
